It wont hurt, they can breath true their skin, very clean water is a must.

Very fast, if you have a male he will get near full grown in like 3 years

Together? if yes even in a big fish bowl (and Im not shure what kind of fish bowl your using, but normal standart tanks are generaly the way to go) it wont take long for the troble to begin, the stronger hachling will start bitting the other and chasing him. You will either endup with just one turtle or 2 injured ones. Keep them apart in 2 smaller tanks.

no need for aeration as long as you keep the water always clean (i.e. regular water changes is a must). my first chinese softie (bought as a 1.5" hatchling) reached full size (11" carapace length) at three years of age. if you keep two young softies in one enclosure, sooner or later the weaker one would succumb because of aggression from the stronger tank mate. NO turtles should be kept in a fish bowl. sir, with respect, if you cannot provide for your turtles properly, don't keep them at all. good luck. :)

the other one died mysteriously last night. are these turtles sensitiveto water parameters? what do i have to watch out?

They can be. And also any kind of turtle so young is prone to health probs, so I allways recomend for people to go for a yearling wich is a much more sound investiment.

went back and got a bigger one. about 3 inches carapace and very long neck. hope he survives. can you suggest some food for this tutle? i tries putting koi pellets and he doesnt eat them. im going to the lfs tomorrow and buy sinking ones.

try turtle pellets and live minnows, he should take either of those, you can also try ghost shrimp. Koi pellets are mostly plant matter, these turtles are carnivores, especially when they are young.

No live minows the risk is to great. The idea of the koi pellets is just that, to get plant material into this turts stomac because in the wild they actualy eat alot of things including plant material wich they tend to ignore in captivity, loosing important nutrients.
