The hybrids do not get nearly as large. You can tell them from true striped bass (which are a saltwater species) by the broken lines on their flanks. Full striped bass have fewer breaks in their lines. They have been reported to reach upwards of 120 lbs as caught by commercial fishermen. The all tackle record is either 76 lbs, 8 oz or 78 lbs, 6 oz. (I forget which.)
