even a 75 is too small IMO for life, lungs get pretty big. they just deserve more room.
I see , thanks guys. Maybe I can put my two bichirs ( a senegal and a delhezi) in the 75 and a single lung in the 100 :) Im really in to the idea of having a lungfish. As some of you know im doing a 400+ gallon in the not so distant future but I heard lungs get picked on so I want him solo so if I get one the 100 is as big as I can really go. It will have a eheim 2217 and two ac 110 :) That should work right a lung solo in a 100 ??

Aussie lung should work,They get to around 3 ft I think. You might be able to have a few Tank Mtes but it would be better if you didn't

I hear they have plenty of personality them selves. He will be alone :) I wish I could include a lung in my 400+ setup coming soon

to comment on questions/responses so far:

for a 55g - no lungfishes (commonly) available would work in a tank that size for life. you could use it as a grow-out tank, but it would need to be upgraded. a gilled African lungfish (Protopterus amphibius) could work in a 55g, but those haven't been imported to the US in several years.

for a 100g - you could make it work with the African species for a long time, possibly life depending on the individual. of course with African species, no tankmates.

you could make it work with some bichirs and an SAL, again, depends on the growth of the SAL and your filtration.

SAL and AUL are the community species...so consider those for a large community tank if you are interested. AUL are more expensive but tend to be a bit more docile (and their fins can't be picked off as easily as the SAL) so they may be the better choice for a large predator community tank.

good luck--
