Mine are at 1/2" I won't go any bigger since I work at a respectable job now and most of the time I have to take them out. I can go a couple of days without them in before having to put them back in.

I had my lip pierced and bought a retainer when I got a job at walmart when I was in school and they told me that I couldn't have a retainer in so I was just going to leave it out and put it back in on my breaks. I had it for a bit over a year and it closed up within 2 hours. I was pissed.
