Any Military MFKr's out there?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did you yell at me? We were 31Truck, A Company.
I joined at 40 and was older than the Brigade CO in basic. I'm so glad to be a SPC. I was constantly being asked, " what did you DO PVT?"

Maybe. LOL. I was a notorious PX stalker looking for turds trying to sneak cigarettes and talking on cell phones. LOL

I now work with a SFC Hughes who was a truck master in I think C co. Know of her?

I stand corrected. I don't know why but for some reason I had it stuck in my head that Eisenhower was an O-10 but he was General of the Army..had 5 stars. I wonder if that was a grade up from a 4 star or just a name given like SMA?

It is a true rank above, a General will salute a General of the Army. Ike was an O-10 and a five star, you are correct.

General of the Army is a 5 star... Still an O-10 but higher than a 4 star (Just plain General) but there is still one spot higher than 5 star... Look it up boys

Which does not hold any particular rank insignia. It is General of the Armies of the United States and was awarded to George Washington in 1976 during part of the bicentennial celebration. At his promotion a law was passed that named him the highest ranking officer ever to have been in the US military and ever to be in the US military.

Before Washington was promoted to this rank, it was being considered to be awarded to Douglas McArthur for the proposed invasion of Japan in the form of a six star general. This was, however, obviously not awarded as it was not needed.

The first person however to be awarded the rank of General of the Armies of the United States was John J. Pershing for his performance as Commander in Chief of US forces in WW1. His rank was however in practice equivalent in the scope of its authority to the later five-star rank of General of the Army, and not a true six-star equivalent. During his time as General of the Armies of the United States, Pershing wore four gold stars.

Didn't need to look it up. ;)

...as do the enlisted ranks (MCPON - Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy).

(BTW, officer O-10 ranks only exist during times of war. Enlisted E-10 paygrade is always filled).

I believe you are mistaken, their are quite a few O-10's now.. Even a 5 star in the time of major war is still an O-10.. I'm not usre how it was back in the day but all of the chief of staffs hold the rank of O-10 as well as most of the major commands.

US ARMY E-6 Staff Sergeant 1976-1983, 82nd "All the Way". Also in recent years I've been involved with CAP as an insturctor E-8 Msgt.
