Any monster catfish in a 3' wide tank?

Yeah irwini, they're cool. What about a tigrinus? Not as big as the TSN...

ah i love tigs, but way to much for me. Just wondering here how long could a rtc last in there? I love those guys and really want one but if its like a year i wouldnt get it. but if was like 2-3 years i would have to get one

Some say they hit 24" in the first year then slow down big time on the growth. So if it's a 36" deep tank it just depends how much he grew after that first year and how fast. I doubt it would last 3 years but maybe 2 or close to it. I mean some people keep them in tanks that big for life but the fish can not be happy and trying to keep up on water changes would be a nightmare because the bio load would be immense. Mine is now a foot, up from 3" 2 months ago; just as an example.

3ft wide gives you a lot of options really - depends ultimately on whether you want to keep with tank mates or not.

you could easily keep a redtail in that tank for a few years - just be careful on what you feed it - you don't have to feed them twice per day just to watch them grow !!!!!! - take it easy and you'll get a nice steady growth rate - the only problem you may find is with tank mates being knocked off.

L. longibarbus or pictus would be a good choice although longibarbus does get 3ft long but i reckon you wouldn't have too many problems.

To be honest it's a pretty big tank that you've got - I wouldn't get a TSN though - they're a bit too rigid when bigger.

you could get yourself a wykii, apurensis, fowleri, L alexandri, megalodoras, pterodoras, what about a few callophysus?, jurense etc etc - you've got loads of options !!!!
