ive had a plant and left it out in the sun FOR ONE DAY 3 inch of snow in vegas on that day??? in about never the first time its happend??? wth man imagen that
it died :*(

Used to keep several hundred sundews, and a few Nepenthes and Heliamphora but after leaving them with family while I was away I lost them all. One fateful day my uncles dog chewed up and destroyed my tray of butter worts as well. Now I only have one nepenthes, and my bog garden outside with sundews, North American pitcher plants and a flytrap. I don't think I'll get back into them until I have a greenhouse of my own. Overall I lost over $300 in plants due to family.

Could have been worse. Several years ago I had an oak limb fall onto my greenhouse during an ice storm; I lost everything. I haven't been able to get enthusiastic about tropical plants since. I have a smallish collection of local aquatics, but that's it for the foreseeable future.

Carnivore-wise, I had a Nepenthes and a few Sarracenia in the greenhouse; otherwise it was mostly bromeliads, ferns, and aroids.

i had one for about 3 years. it really flourished. I found the trick was using distilled water and only putting water in from the bottom, IE: not adding it directly to the soil but letting it soak up through a tray underneath, don't know the proper term for that kind of watering, but it was a fun plant :)
This is what I did and mine also did very well (that is until I left it out in the cold ).

I've never had luck with carnivorous plants, but I haven't tried them in several years.

My only current "monster plant" is a pothos growing out of one of the filters on my 150. It seems to quite enjoy the monster fish waste and is getting HUGE. Some of the leaves it's starting to produce are as big as/bigger than my hand!
