Any one else train in MMA ?

kenpo is deadly I spent 6 months exclusively training Kenpo and BJJ at a gym back down by Monterey where I used to live. I forgot to mention if anyone wants to learn how to fight dirty and really pick people apart (for self defense only this **** wont fly in tournaments) Learn Shoshu its straight up street fighting dirty and its easy to pick up and learn fast even as a newb. I got my 2 little brothers in shoshu currently and they are nasty little fighters. Also Hapkido being my main discipline I highly reccomend it. Its bone snapping and has alot of useful ideology. I wont be able to use a lot of it until I get in to some real cage fighting if that ever happens. In the last 3 months ive been training alot with a boxer as well and it has helped my stand up tremendously but I cant see it being as useful as MMA for street self defense.

Hi tcarswell , i didn't see this thread before . Any other women into mma ? surely it can't be all guy's ? not that i practise any mma i'm just a big fan .

I trained Jiu Jitsu last year on and off at a Gracie/Adiv academy. I would still but I'm broke as a joke and it's an hour one way drive.

I personally think Jiu Jitsu is the greatest form of martial arts but I am also biased in a way. If you can only pick one I highly suggest it but make sure it's a good school and not a McDojo.

We also trained NHB (Mma) as well but I didn't do much of that.

I've even done a few submissions on Royler Gracie himself. :) (We were practicing)

Nice , well said about the mcdojo's . I train at ultimate fitness now in Sacramento. Urijah Fabers place :headbang2 He is the shizznit. Anyone see him knock Jens Pulver sideways in the first round recently ?

I've actually been looking into a few different style of martial arts. Mostly interested for the exercise and just the thrill of learning something new. I figure it would beat running on a treadmill any day.

It does. But I still have to cardio my ass off to have the energy to spar in a cage simulation. Running stairs jump rope and just plain running :nilly:
