Many many years ago in a previous house I used to have a monstera sp too. It was the monstera deliciosa I believe, the common Swiss cheese plant, must be related to that one of yours.

And no I didn't murder it, lol. In fact it grew to quite a large impressive size, it was one plant which I never seemed to have any problems with.
