Long Island, New York
i see tons of threads for sweetwater fisherman, but not many for salties. anyone else wanna speak up :D

i fish exclusively saltwater, and am a hardcore bass and blues angler. here or there porgy or fluke, but nothing is like the fast runs of a striper, or the crazy thrashing bluefish do when caught. i have a 21' boat i fish atleast once a week, try to go for 2-3x when time permits. will be looking for mr 30lb'er this year :):):)

first major trip this year with my son yeiled one 29 1/2" bass:

Great catch many dont know that Long Island NY has great saltwater fishing and clean good eating fish .
I used to go for monster blues from Freeport in those party boats.

Whatre you doin keeping the littl' ones?
Just kidding, that's a decent fish. In the winter down here we get 40-60 lbs reguraly. I fish for drum, cobia, spot, croaker, flounder, blues, specks, seatrout, tautog, black sea bass, tuna, king mackeral, dolphin and stripers. My all time favorite is stripers on the fly. Nothing beats a 60 lb ocean striper on a twelve weight, or a nine if your feeling spunky. It's not fishing for the faint of heart though. The season starts in january and runs through february, sometimes as early as december, but most of the time their out past three miles then.
I also love trolling offshore. I've seen turtles as big as a car, and mola mola bigger. It's cool when your chunking tuna, and a big turtle sticks his head up to see what your doing.

I just moved from Texas so I used to fish in the gulf for some reds and cat, but now I'm in landlocked Colorado where a 4lb trout is a good catch. You make me the good ol' days.

Hey, i fish saltwater also, off of long island ny, I try to go out as much as i can, but with work i dont get much time anymore. I usually for for fluke, strips, blues. But with the way fluke season is this year its going to suck, i guess ill be doing more strips adn blues.

hmm ive only been saltwater striper fishing once and the ones I caught could have ate that one :D. plus my unkle landed a 25-30 pounder that was 1/2 an inch under slot :irked:.

waters are still cold up here, so a good part of the fish that are moving in right now are schoolies and smaller fish. soon as the temps come up a few more degrees, i should be hopefully posting some pics of nice 30-40"+ fish.

and as someone mentioned, the fluke regs in Ny this year are INSANE. we have a split season, and a freaking 21" minimum size and 2 fish limit. talk about bending us over?? i can only imagine how many thousands upon thousands of short fluke are gonna die by the weekend warriors that just tear hooks out of the fish, and go though 50 short fish before getting one thats barely keepable:screwy::screwy::screwy:
