Any Other Tank Sniffers Here?

I notice right away if something smells “off”, but can’t say sniffing the tank intentionally is part of my routine.

Hello; I made a similar statement on this forum a few years ago and was called out for it. The member said humans could not smell things at the sensitivity of a good test kit. I let it go and do continue to sniff my tanks and have for decades.
Over time I know what a healthy tank smells like. May not be able to judge all parameters but when the smell is off I start doing some checking.
When I worked as a water analyst, I tested for at least a dozen parameters per day, and each had its own test, and set of reagents, there were many more tests that required 3 or 4 days or even more to complete, and some the cost of reagents and testing quite expensive. Most of the time, we aquarists test for basic, simple inexpensive parameters, so test kits we use in aquariums are very limited, and have the ability to test for only 5 or 6 species of chemical, compared to the many we could be testing for.
