i got this little guy yesterday, i know some stuff about them but have never kept one ,and for a juv. jaguar cichlid,not a bad trade . what the best way to keep him/her the happiest and tips and tricks ? ive been keeping rare predatory fish for 8+ years and have the resources to try what i have to do . also any idea on the species or is it too young to tell ? thanks MFKers you guys are the geatest !
(ps it is about 2.5 inches)

i had a feeling her was a scom because of that jaw but had no other evidence

The only reason I stay away from scombs is the notorious random deaths around 12".

You should still be able to enjoy yours for quite some time though. Be aware of hunger strikes, and a jumpy fish. They tend to spook easy.
 
thanks alot , thats why i love mfk everyone is helpful especially the mods lol ! i hope it stays the same it eats when i feed it and always shows off his teeth and beautiful slender bodyshape , what a great looking fish!
 
Needs soft water and low lighting . Live feeders are a must and if your a fisherman Youl easily figure out ways to trick him with fishing line and frozen foods .

you can starve them until they eat frozen food. This works for armatus but i'm not sure about baby scombs.
