i am rehoming the silver dollar the angel fish and maybe the rainbow just wont to know if the sand will be a problem or not

Good ideas, the lone SD should get a school of his own. The angel might not be tough enough to hang with the big boys like sevs. The rainbow cichlid seems like it should do fine in that set up and they do turn out to be good looking when they are bigger.

What about the common pleco? Might be better to replace him with a bristle nose instead.

Yes go sand or fine gravel and rehome the remainder. Common pleco will get huge so yes also rehome if possible to lessen your bioload.

I have a friend who has a synodontis angelicus that he has had now over 30 years. Of course living in a 300g probably helps.
