I would get a red or purple sanchezi. I would rather have the purple though because I think they are a lot prettier. Sanchezis are also very active fish and I have never really heard anyone complain about them.
all good suggestions so far, although in my opinion anything smaller than a 55 is too small for a red (again, just my opinion). i would stick with a sanchezi, spilo, irritans or even an eigenmanni.

Plus having a solo red wouldnt be much fun. They are much better in a shoal. Again I say sanchezi. Maybe even a gold spilo but I think sanchezi would be best bet.

Well you will have a very hard time finding an irritans and even if you do you will pay a ton. A gold spilo will be too large because they can get up to 12 inches, 55 gallon is the minimum for them. You will have your best time finding a sanchezi. I have one and it is very good looking. They can be pretty aggressive too. I would stick with a sanch. They are easy to find and pretty cheap too.
