never mind its too hard to explain this and i dont have paint on my computer, my os is semi boot legged, any way i got a 29 and it will have a lot of rock in it so i am going to just build a ply wood stand sorry to confuse you guys.

If you are thinking something like this, I say not a good idea..

that is exactialy what i was thinking. you got it perfect. do you think it would work for a rack for 10s? like what you drew only stacked up remember a 4x8 sheet of plywood will hold me about 140 pounds when it is only being sported on each end by a saw horse so i am not worried about bowing unless you think it will punch through? any way like i said i am buying a stand because no body really under stood me and it was too hard to explain.

There is a flaw in the design, no laterial support. If a force was apply to the side of the tank the screws holding the flange to the plywood could pull out as the tank was moving horizonaly. May work for smaller tank, but I don;t think it would be to safe for a larger 55 gallon.

Although the design looks "cool" ... I say NO, Don't even try it...

Even if you bolt the flanges together (through the wood) your shelves will not provide the stability you will want... not even if you bolt into the floor & ceiling...
