Any scuba divers on MFK?

I was just wondering how many people on the site dive? Somebody posted a thread about 8 or 9 months ago and only got 4 responses! It seems like more of you would want to get underwater than that...

I dive quite a bit. I've been certified for 11 years. I dive warm or cold water, salt or fresh, above or below ground, you name it. It's a great way to see Monster Fish!

i dive warm and salt mostly, although I have gone skin diving in 68F water a few times. I have gone fresh water diving, but unless it is a natural spring or flowing river, it is impossible to see much. I have a couple hundred dives logged in, and a couple hundred more not logged in. I once swam side to side with an 8ft jewfish (coolest thing ever!)

The Jewfish didnt bite your head o__o??? I saw one that was like a billion times bigger then me at mg 3 barge that thing was hugeee. Anyways I ve only been certified for 4 months now I have 14 dives so far, all salt dives in coldish and warm water. Looking forward to more =] Love diving - I posted a thread in the photo lounge with pics a month or two ago.

That's a Monster! Biggest thing I've ever swam with was a 6' potato cod, probably a few hundred pounds. I dive warm water whenever I can, but around here it's cold water or a plane ticket...
It's true freshwater diving is usually so-so. In clear flowing streams you don't tend to see too many big fish (except during salmon runs). The only place I've seen the kind of fish people keep on MFK is in the Mexican cenotes. I saw some nice cichlids protecting a nest full of fry two years ago. I also saw some Rhamdia quelens catfish last November (someone on MFK I.D.'ed it for me).

14 dives in 4 months is really good! And my side by side wasn't touching. It was more like him, 8 feet, and then me

oooh lol yah I went 2 weeks ago and before we went down the guy on the boat warned us not to get to close to the jewfish b/c they bite your head and they dont let go.. for some reason I found it humours.. pictured a diver with a fish stuck to heir head... lol >_> anyways Yah I try to go as much as I can cuse I dont live near any good places that are intresting other then maybe the springs. We were looking for lemon sharks on the last dive but didnt see any =[ very dissapointed.

The freshwater down here in some lakes and springs you can see alot of cool natives and sa fish =]

You live in FL and I dive in South FL and my bf dives to maybe we can all go diving, maybe some other fl members here dive too that want to go? =]

I love diving just no friends that do, so most the time when i dive it's working for my dad. Also never dove warm water before, just cold..

finally a moderator who makes sense! I've been trying to go diving, fishing, mfk meeting, biking, walking, and all other verbings you can imagine with people around here to no avail. Shoot me a pm if you ever come down (bf optional). The guy who certified me is a hall of fame diver (over 7000 dives!!!), and he always gets me good deals.
