you don't have to make up stories just so you can participate in this thread

jealousy isnt pretty you should really stop....

:D

I got my certification about 4 months ago. I've only gone a few times, all cold fresh quarry dives. Last one was mid december, with it being about 30 F outside...it was a lot of fun though.

I would love to meet with any divers around MD/VA/PA to go quarry diving this spring/summer.

wow, I would have loved to dive there! Although I am a bit scared of cave dives

Being a bit scared of cave diving just means your survival instincts are strong! :)
It is considered one of the most dangerous "sports" you can participate in. I have been 7 times, but always with highly qualified guides. I normally don't dive with a divemaster, but I wouldn't even consider cave diving without a guide (yet...).

also sorry for the derail, but one last story...

my friend kathryn's father works as a a director at wood's hole. He got her a hookup, and she spent 8 months in some remote island in the pacific studying dolphin/whale behavior of a local pod. A supply boat would come by once a week, but other than that it was just her and 3 other people. Imagine cast-away with supplies and company for 8 months!!!! I know finding a job in marine bio isn't the easiest, but I would trade anything to have a job like the one she has!!!!!!

Thats awesome!!! I would love a job like that also. I figured I have more of a chance working with animals in general though if I go for the others. Plus I wouldnt mind some of the jobs fish and game have around here :D esp. the conservation ones. I intern/volunteer at chelonia research institue now with turtles and tourtises which is pretty cool.

As for cave diving, I am scared of that too. I do like wreck diving though. I ve gone a couple of times with the instructor I got certified with, but havent got my cert for that yet. I'd like to cave dive just when I have more experience.

IMO - Best wreck diving hands down is in Palua (not sure if im spelling that right?, its where they taped survivor). Almost went their instead of Bali. Lots of old ship and airplane wrecks from WW II.
