I have been to the keys.. no pictures..on old film. I ve been to west palm - i have an album on my profile you can check. It was pretty cool. I went to Jupiter Inlet, ms barge 13 -100ft very cool, the pilings 60ft, intresting, barren area with a bunch of lobster - 90ft and loggerhead coral 60ft. Thailand trip proved to be too expensive so instead I'm heading to Cozumel in November. Planning on doing at least one day of cenote diving - thanks for the inspiration Dan Feller!

That's too bad Thailand ended up being so expensive, but I think you'll really enjoy the Riviera Maya.

Cenote Dos Ojos is a great place to start. Ruben that runs the dive shop at the entrance to Dos Ojos is one of the pioneers of Cenote Diving (he even had a bit part in the IMAX film "Amazing Caves") and a really nice guy. A little farther back is a cenote known as "The Pit". The highlight of diving The Pit is are the pre-hispanic that are found there including a human jawbone at 140'.

Another truly unique dive is Cenote Angelita. This is not much of a cavern dive as there very little overhead. The interesting thing about Angelita is the Hydrogen Sulfide cloud. The Hydrogen Sulfide is trapped in the halocline layer at around 100' between the saltwater and the freshwater. The effect is like an underwater cloud of smoke and is truly amazing!

If you can find it for a reasonable price, Steve Gerrard's book Cenotes of the Riviera Maya is a great resource.

Do you know where you're staying yet? just curious.

Yea I dive, do a lot locally, but I have traveled a little bit and gone diving in Australia, Southern tip of Mexico, Gulf of Mexico (Tex coast), Washington (COLD!), Galapagos (Come Aug next year) and Florida (In feb with Ash). Locally I've done Monterey Bay, SF Bay (that sucked), Lake Tahoe, Several Sites along the southern coast (San Diego and such), and some other lakes around. Oh yea, and countless times in tanks. Really want to travel more and do some wreck dives.
