I have managed to quit smoking after almost 10+ try's at it .
but finally what worked was convincing my own self that i needed a nicotine fix rather than a smelly ciggy.
once done , nicotine chewing gums lasted for a while before the jaw pain kinda dialed it down. Eventually getting rid of acidity became an concern hence regular chewing gum became the crutch and finally its too booooring trying to get a fix (getafix OMG!!! asterix character that i love!!!)
a tip for thief smokers , though this doesn't do your health any good , but does help in reducing the discovery and subsequent pack of thief ciggies at home!.
01. Any curd based product will completely kill the odour from mouth.( gelato , yo gurt , probiotic curds)
02.wash your hand by using garden soil like a soap , this will kill all the smell from your hands ( humic acid). ( trust me my dogs wouldn't detect it , wifey trained em to when i declared that i had stopped smoking)
and yeah most importantly for complete cessation , stop using the defeatist word "quit" in your mind , the finality of which will break down any concrete resolutions that you make. instead get lazier and keep "postponing" the smelly ciggy , laziness is just too natural not to agree with.

hope that i have in some measure extended the life expectancy of a fellow monster-fish keeper , cmon guys there are a lot of living things that really need your being alive and kicking.!

PS: don't stop smoking and drinking at the same time! , an extra drink will always put you to sleep sooner then you can convince yourself of the necessity of the next fix.( though you might be dick in the next few parties , but we understand that you doing it for your fishes
