Any stand ideas for a 1000g tank?

I agree, wood should be fine and metal shouldn't be necessary. You will need more vertical support elements to hold that weight but since the tank will have a larger footprint that shouldn't be a problem. My 110g has six vertical 2 x 4 support elements and that has been plenty. Since my tank is 48" x 18" the 2 x 4's are spaced 24" side by side and 18" front to back. Keep this spacing and you should be fine. A 2 x 4" every 18" will give you all the support you need, any extra will just be extra insurance.

I too hope it is going on a concrete floor!
