The best pic I could get - the mouth and gills were open - but it is not everyday I can get a LFS owner to fish out a wolf and turned it upside down for me to take some pics. LOL!

Lacerdae owners and wolf keepers, please enlighten me; sincere thanks in advance.

Not lac. This looks like sp mbigua.

Lac has to have parallel lines and 6 pores.

The folds are to wide to be Australis and need 5 pores. The wolf has 4 I can see. But need a lateral count on this guy for sure.

Thanks man. Appreciate your assistance here.

This is probably a common mala then.

Not mala. The folds are too far apart and don't touch to be mala.

It like like sp mbigua.

I wouldn't denote australis right away since the gills are flared out. I don't think mala since its to wide, but lac is like that when normal except the folds are straighter, I'm going with australis. Kno4te if you go look at pics of DB's possible mbigua(s) the folds are just like that of a mala hence the confusions where it looked like a lac but shared definitive traits of a mala.

I get what your saying moe but for it too to be Australis it needs 5 pores.

It looks to have 4.

Look at s4detroits Australis. I think that's the member. 5 pores and widens out. This kind of flares out.

Malas folds touch and this don't.

I'll look at DBs again.

Mouth looks wayyyyy wide open compared to typical "jaw" shots......

I thought the Mbiguas were supposed to have 5 stripes on the jaw.....

Any normal pics of this guy??? Are the fins reddish????

I love how Wolves are either what we want or "just Malas" lol.

I'm guessing it's got a Mala price tag???? lol

It does have the stripes. The stripes will vary depending on the size. From juveniles to adult. Can be blurry to stripes. image.jpeg

Australis for compare. image.jpeg
