well first problem is that. He needs to be more involved and bond with his dog if it will respect and obey him. After that it is positive enforcment and consistencey. Main thing and can't stress enough is consistency. I've trained several weimeraners and they are one of the worst. If you are teaching the dog something don't let it slip around other people. Inform them that the dog can't do it and stick with one method. You can't start one method and have yor mom dad brother or spouse mix it up in the middle and try a different way. First watch and learn its natural behavior then you have to create training methods based upon behavior he already does. Like people. We don't all learn the same things as easily or as quickly. If you find a way they can associate with they will learn faster and oh ya positive reinforcment after every little thing right. Don't give treats or he will always expect them. Rather use his favorite toys as rewards and upbeat voice and petting. When he does something well give him his toy for 40 or 50 seconds and use a high excited voice to praise "good job or good boy followed by name". Frustration is ur worst enemy so don't push him. It only upsets you and the dog. Don't expect to take an hour and teach him to lay or to sit. They get bored quickly and their attention goes elsewhere. Think of it as a 2 year old. Train in incriments of 5 minutes at a time a couple of times a day. Try not to teach more than one thing ata time. Let him learn one thing then use it and move on to the next. Remember, consistency and positve reinforcment. good luck

It's to close to Chrismas to go for this one :D . Does it's name start with an 'R'?

House breaking is a time honored tradition...Ask 8 people how & get 10 different ways.

I used 3 different ways on 8 different dogs. Go figure.

Good Luck.

Yeah, I did the cage training for both of my dogs. Eventually you don't need the cage anymore and they both picked it up pretty quick.

most puppys don't have the ability to control their bladders till about 12 to 14 weeks weeks, your just on the edge of that, so when he goes in the house scold him immediately (dogs aren't good on memory it wont do any good to scold him hours latter) and when he goes out side give him a treat or make sure he knows its a good thing, again immediately after. you can even get him to assosiate a word you say with going by saying it every time he goes out for that. my mom trained her dog to go out when she says "go to it".

patents is key

a firend of mine trained her dog to ring a bell hanging from the door nob when he goes out, not sure how she did that but its a lot better then barking.

I had a buddy in college whose boston terrier would ring a bell hung up by the door. Trust me its a lot worse than barking. That stupid dog would hit the bell non stop because he wanted to go out and play.
