Any tips to get baby silver to eat?

i fed my silver aro crickets for the first week then started weening him off it by feeding him hikari food sticks that you can find at any pet store. he did starve himself for about a day or two then started eating them

I agree try some crickets then some pellets.

yea thats what i want to get him on , i seen him eat one cricket a couple days ago but since then nothin , i think he only ate the cricket cause it was swimming fast away from him , ive put some of my quarantined feeders in there also but he shows no interest , ive tried .... bloodworms frozen and hikari freeze dried , brins shrimp , krill , market shrimp cut into smaller pieces and small hikari gold pellets oh and meal worms.... i wanna try find mussel my lfs dont have it .... any more ideas its been a week.....????

just get somthing that floats on the top and moves he should strike it sooner or later but once u get him eating them regularly then switch him onto the hikari sticks not the pellets mine still doesnt reall like the pellets. the sticks really bring out the red in them

keep us posted about how he is doing..good advice here ..the only thing i can add is if you feed him crickets make sure they are small ones.. and keep trying..several times a day.. but make sure you take out all uneaten food.. and do water changes.. it also helps spark appetite and having pristine water is an absolute must.Also could add some garlic oil and small amount of aquarium salt.. just very small amount ..less then required for your size tank.. soothes him while he is stressing.. hope something enhances him soon..

hi liz , thanks i finally got him to eat bloodworms lastnight i broke some into tiny pieces and he didnt pay attention to it at first but then finally tried one after that it was game over for the BW he ate them all im so happy now at least hes got somethin in his lil belly , im gonna keep trying crickets still i got supper small ones for him , im doing a lfs run right now to a couple stores to try fing some garlic oil and a few other foods .... ive been doing a water change every 2nd day until i get my wc system hooked up to this tank , the water is mint , its a 180g with just a baby 6" silver , he seems a lil more relaxed now he kept staying close to the heaters but now he roams around more

That is so wonderful..i don't think anything could be better then the baby finally eating.. your on your way now... congradulations on a beautiful baby..keep the cover weighted down and he will grow like a weed now!!!!

i know im so releived , his top is a custom made 2x6 top with 2x4 bracing covered in eggcrate with the light on top in time i will make a somewhat 2x4 cross brace that hold the top down and possibly lock it down and maybe cover a portion of the eggcrate with plexi to try prevent the same thing from happening to him as my last aro , but thanks for the replys guys , im hopin he grows but at the same time i wish he stayed small he's so adorable , hes even tame enough already to swim in my hand and let me pet him! ill try get a pic of his tank soon as i get my camera back i made the stand and top turned out quite nice just need to stain it

looking forward to seeing him again..and post lots of pics in the arow baby thread..where we will watch him grow.. i update it all the time.
