Third rock from the sun
We bought a used Rena xP3 from my lfs and the guy said it works perfectly. Now when we took it home, set the tank up and primed it, the thing wouldn't move any water. The motor would work and the propeller would turn, its just that it wouldn't move any water. Personally I think that its not letting the air escape and in turn the motor is not touching the water enough for the water to actually move. Either that or it just doesn't work?

This is my first canister and we followed the directions exactly and it still wouldn't work. Please Help i want to get this tank ready for my Flowerhorn asap.

Thanks, Tank.

Sounds like theres an air leak. Maybe the the priming cap isnt on or the head isnt sealed to the canister 100%. Have u cleaned it? Pics?

We cleaned it out a bit... when we prime it and then plug it in after it finishes priming, it then spits out more air and the water in the output tube doesn't move. I'll try to get some pics.

The baskets may not be seated correctly, the intake siphons in water which drops threw the sides of the can to the bottom then the impeller sucks the water up threw the baskets into the impeller threw the hoses and out the outake, the baskets have to lock perfectly, so there airtight and the top where it locks has to seal on the motor head with the oring. Do u have the piece that locks to the top basket?

im not sure what you mean by that, they all fit together, then we put the piece with the motor on and latched it down with the lever thing up, filled the tube, re sealed the cap, lowered the lever and primed it. What does this piece look like?

The 3 baskets stack up, then at the top of the 3rd there a peice that interlocks with that baskets, it is a plastic plate that has a whole which matches up with the impeller circle and seals it, then u put the motor head on it and latch it.

Try engaging the lever first, then priming the tubes. Also, fill the canister to the top so that you spill a little water out when you seal it.

Are there any leaks? sometimes the lever assembly can break.
