Recently started to after I found I had about $1500 worth I had gotten as a kid. What do you collect?

I have a variety of the coins found on Coinflation.com. I personally like Mercury Dimes but I have silver quarters, halves, American eagles, etc. To round off my precious metals collection I also have pre-82 hand sorted copper pennies (by the pound, rather than the ounce). I collect both as an investment because I think the price will rise, but also as a hedge against inflation. Also, were the economy to collapse it would make great barter items.

I collect similar, got a bunch of silver dimes, quarters and halves from my uncle as a kid so I've been adding to that. Also been buying some silver eagles when I can find at a good price.

I have some silver coins. I dont buy them, I just look for them in my change or I will occasionaly get a few rolls of halves from the bank and dig for silver. I have only a few hundred dollars worth though. I do have around $5000 in gold though.

Nice, would like to grab some gold, but just to costly at 1800 an ounce.

I have a few silver coins from when I was younger and I look for them whenever I get change, but I don't have much.

i didn't even know today's quarters and dimes weren't silver

what are they? and when did it change?

Yeah no silver in quarters and dimes since 1964. If ya do fine any before 1965 they are 90% silver and the dimes are worth over 2 bucks each with the quarters being worth over 5 bucks each.

ive really gotten into coin collecting myself lately. i work at a convience store, i occasionally find silver in the register. ive gotten 3 mercury dimes in the last week, but never found any before that. got some quarters, dimes, and a few nickels. nothing serious.

i have also jumped on the copper bandwagon keeping my copper pennies in a milk jug.

nickels were made with copper after 1945 and are worth 5 cents melt value right now. Pre-1945 nickels are worth almost $2 in silver melt value. Pennies were made with copper until 1982. Copper pennies are worth twice face value right now, which isn't a lot unless you have a lot.
