Anybody else have adult Electric Blue/Gold ("Platinum") Dempseys?

Sorry for neglecting this thread--got caught up in the holidays and all.
Outlaw15w, sorry to hear about your male :( did you get any fry from the spawn?

I did not end up with any fry from the first platinum x gold spawn...not sure if it was a fertility issue or lack of parenting experience on the part of the female. They are now doing the spawning dance again, so hopefully there will be another spawn within the next few days. This time I may pull the eggs and see if I get better results that way.
In the meantime, I let the platinum male visit his old mate, the blue gene female, and they had a successful spawn. So at least I have some little electric blues to raise up while the gold female gets her act together ;)

Success! Finally have wigglers from the platinum x gold. Had to pull the spawn shortly before they hatched so mama wouldn't have a chance to eat them this time ;)
Now there is just the wait to see if the female carries the blue gene or not. Makes me wonder how big the fry have to be before i will be able to tell the platinums (if any) apart from the regular golds.
On a side note, the spawn from the male platinum x female blue gene is doing very well. They are about 2 weeks old now, and I'm almost able to tell the electrics from the normal-looking blue gene/gold genes. They are all strong, healthy babies, and growing fast...

Thanks! Wish I had more to take pics of at this point. Wigglers and tiny fry are not the most exciting photo subjects :( I'll get some shots of the baby EBJD's in another week when I separate them from the blue genes. And I hope there are some upcoming platinum fry to take pics of later on...waiting is my least favorite thing :(

I know fry pictures are usually pretty useless lol. I will wait patiently for some pics of juvies that are further developed. I hope you get some good fry and your breeders continue to spawn.

congrats, and no i didnt get fry , i just got a bg male and put him in with her so we will see what happens, keep me posted on your fish, to bad not many keepers are into or trying to do the same as you how big is your platnum

^ I thought about trying to breed these but never found any that I thought were suitable breeders. Most I have seen were pretty deformed.

my little brother had a nice ebjd for a long time..amazing colors nice beak and everything, sadly tho he lost him for no reason (i hear this is somewhat normal with them) but it was one of his favorite fish, as well as mine. a picture of him is currently his avator
