Anybody else wish they could have a Dovii ?

I would love a dovii but i dont have the tank space right now. Maybe after I rehouse the silver and his mates and the pbass i could grow one out in the 90 or 100 but thats atleast a year away. Until then i will live through pics of awesome dovii here on ]v[ F K!

No, its just a bubble chamber, it makes micro bubbles that lift crap and gunk out of the water. If you have water, it works with it.
 
Protein Skimmers work by the salinity of your water. The higher the salinity the better they work. Back when I had saltwater and would lower salinity for ich reasons, the protein skimmers would barely be functional until I returned the salinity back to normal. If you try and use it in freshwater it wont remove anything.. Trust Me :)

I ran reefs for about 7 years now. One thing you're not taking into account is how wet you set the skimmer, you have to put it pretty wet to get the scum out, but it does work, just not nearly as well as it does for salt. Takes a extremely powerful skimmer, set very wet. But for the average skimmer / tank and settings you're right.
