"The only way I had success getting ANY of my picky preds off live food is to keep them with fish that eat non-live already. Monkey see, monkey do."

This is entirely true and works all the time. I do this at work with the knives and butterflyfish. As long as I still have some of them around that are eating prepared foods the new arrivals start eating it in no time at all.

I've noticed this too. I had a dat that (haha) wouldn't eat anything but live. I'd be feeding pellets, shrimp, beefheart for the other fish, and the dat would go investigate, but always retreat. I got a geophagus later on and notice the dat would watch the geo eat some shrimp, and the dat went after it to steal it from the geo! I think it has to do with social mirror, monkey see monkey do, but only if the fish looks similar (geo was only fish that has tall body structure like the dat, rest were bichirs, ATF, and SHs).

My leaffish only ate live fish at first, but now it eats frozen krill also! One day I threw ghost shrimps into my tank, and some were able to get away from my gauchas making it to the other side of my tank. My leaf swam a little, paused a few inches from the shrimp, and suddenly pounced on the shrimp. It did this a few more times till the shrimps were all gone. I fed them the same thing the next day, and the same thing happened.
A few days later I was feeding my bichir frozen krill and noticed the leaf begin to stalk the frozen krill, then suddenly it ate one. I did this again and began to notice that when I feed it krill it will only attack the krill that have the eyes still attached.

Have any of you tried feeding your leaf fish frozen krill?
