anybody have umbees?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im purchasing some and dont ever plan on putting them in a tank of that size any time soon or ever. I had a 15.5" black Piranha in a 90 gal tank for over two years and he didnt complain and was as healthy as an ox. Posters tell you tank size because thats what they feel will moraly fit the fish best for excersize and for the fish to grow to optimum length or just because someone else told them you have to have a tank that big . Its just like PEDA *****ing about how farmers keep cows in a 4x6 pen their whole lives. I can be done but most advise a bigger living environment. I everyone had to have a 300g tank for a certain fish hardly anyone would have any. I have found tons of people who own these fish on other sites in way smaller tanks and they are doing just fine. The biggest problem I have heard is with aggresion when they hit the couple of inch mark and are know to kill each other off so by the time you are done you will be down to either one fish or one pair anyways. I just bought one for $5 last month, a $5 fish for a $1000 plus tank, dont think so.

Thanks everyone!!

It's nice to see people give their fish adequately sized tanks. Your fish is a beauty and will be even more stunning as it grows. I have always loved umbee but do not want to dedicate a 240 gallon + to just one fish.
