But it also depends on how saturated your pet stores are with bristlenose. At one of mine, I can sell my blue eyeds without a problem but any other color phase of bristlenose is so common they rarely pay more than $2 each.
In terms of experience, you can't go wrong with bristlenose and overall, at least in my area, albinos and longfins sell for more than standard brown. I would recommend trying your hand at them first: they are overall cheap to come by, easy to breed, and good for a first breeder catfish.
But keep in mind that the more rare plecos are not as easy to breed, generally speaking, or you would find the price dropping as the market saturated. Yes, L260 fry used to sell for over 100 each and are now closer to 50 each, but that is inch long fry that will take years to mature.
