1/4" isent strong enuf for anything over 12"

you can build a 144 x 48 x 12 it would be fine

but a 36 x 12 x 30 tall would bow and break

my 18 tall is made of 1/4... made by allGlass

Using GARF's calculator, you can even go 72"x36"x18". The height seems to be the limiting factor for the 1/4" thickness here.

With good bracing, you could possibly get a 8x4x1.5 = 360 gal

360 US gallons? for a 1/4 inch thick glass? this is impossible...as for my experience the 1/4 inch glass can only hold a max of 100-120 gallons thats 2x2x4 feet

dont go farther than 120 gallons...100 gallons is much safer..a monsterfish can easily bust that this tank...

I would go with how ever long you can go, say for example 6 foot. Then a depth of 2.5 feet and a height of 18" MAX. 6x2.5x1.5 = 168 Gallons. Just an estimate. Make sure you have very good bracing.
