They did fine with some mid sized c.a cichlids. It's conspecific aggression that you have to watch out for. The wolves actually left the cichlids completely alone and at times teh cichlids would pick at them. The exception would be pike cichlids - both the wolves and the more aggressive pikes tend to dislike anything cigar shaped, and they war constantly when kept together. Keeping some more active, somewhat aggressive cichlids with them would probably help curb their aggression as well. Nothing TOO aggressive that will kill the wolves (no guapotes/midas complex), but maybe fish like synspilum, kraussi, carpintis, gymnogeophaus/satanoperca sp. etc. etc. Larger schooling fish like silver dollars or tinfoil barbs work as well.

what size tank and how many were you keeping, Xiao?

180g with 3 subadults (ca. ~6 inches) with some med. distochodus sexfasciatus and some med. c.a cichlids.

i kept mine with 2 hujetas, and some other fish i cant remember. :D
they tend not to like things that look like themselves.
so i'd be more worried about them hurting each other than tankmates.
if you have tons of hiding places and many plants, they hshould be fine in a large enough tank.

is 150 large enough for 3 of them? i probably won't be able to upgrade until next summer or so.

since they dont grow like common hoplias, they should be fine for maybe a few mths.
but they do get to 18 inches.
they should be fine in that tank until they hit about 8 inches.
then theyll be killing each other in too small of a space.

i got mine with in with 6 upper jaw bichirs and no problems yet. they seem to ignore the bichirs and vice versa.

they should be fine together as long as they cant eat or try to eat each other.
i just lost an ery ery to my endli...

channa how big was the ery and the endli who ate him? i don't have any lower jaws at the moment. probably get a lap or two when i buy my next tank.
