anybody know about this cheap canister filter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most of the filters we use in the hobby are actully manufactured in China. Eheim...Fluval..Rena ECT. One exception to that rule is Marineland. The factorys who produce the canister in China very often rip off the basic design and then change it just enough to get by and produce it under thier own lable. The one your looking at is a rip off version of the Fluval 405 however it lacks MOST of the good features of the 405. parts availability and factory support on these units are almost non-existant. Personally I wouldn't risk it. None of these designs are properly tested or developed in any way. They rely on the originals for all of that.

Personally if you are just looking to remove alot of particle waste, then you only need a good mechanical filter. Look into getting a magnum 350 or HOT magnum 250 if you want a canister. Myself I run AC110s and rinse sponges weekly, but these are HOB filters.

No this is only partially correct. Eheim Pro's I, II and 3 or 3e;s, and internal aquaballs are still manufactured in Germany. Eheim classics, ecco and pickups are now manufactured in china. It's easy to spot as on the boxes pro's and aquaballs state made in Germany. Classics eccos ect will have desgined in Germany or printed in the PRC (peoples republic of China).

Note in this advertising http://www.eheim.de/eheim/movies/Filtersysteme_GB.wmv which filters have made in germany flash up on screen and the ones that don't.
