Check aquabid.com. I got my giant snails from a couple of auctions there. My malaysian apple snails are larger than baseballs and my red ramshorn snails are a half dollar in diameter.

Or try the snail exchange forum in the discussion section of applesnail.net - there are often things you won't find elsewhere.

And please keep in mind a couple of things: 1) if some of those really big snails get into a stream, there will be absolute hell to pay with the local flora. 2) except for brigesii (the standard "mystery"apple snail) most of the big snails eat plants and sponge filters. 3) anything from Africa could very well be carrying some nasty parasites. That's why they are illegal to import, even though the land snails get big enough to scare your dog.

OK, I just checked and it looks like Canas and Marisas may now be illegal to sell in the US. Not sure about Insularums (size of my fist), but I suspect they may be unavailable as well. Giant African Land Snails have been illegal for years. Of course, you can always collect your own giant apple snails at the Salton Sea in CA...

Apple snails and canas are not illegal to own, just sell or ship in some states. Sellers may need a permit to ship snails across state lines. I hear it is a pain in the but to acquire and expensive. **************** doesn't ship snails anymore because of the permit BS. For the most part it is the southern states and CA that have banned them because they don't want them getting lose in the Eco-system.
