Well not many things really want to eat a loach because of their barb plates. This doesnt affect polypterus?

Bichirs can eat other bichirs which have much longer spines than the loaches barb.

The yoyo loach and zebra loach will for sure will get eaten if the ornate out grows them. The clown loach might survive if it grows to 6"+. I used to have a school of clown loaches size range 6-12 inches mix with my bichirs that were 8-18 inches. Well now my most of my bichir are now at 20"+ so not sure what's gonna happened with the loaches at size 6" but I'm sure 8"+ clown loaches are safe as they are thick compare to yoyo loach and zebra loach are slender and wont grow big.

Loaches that I succeeded keeping with large fish are size of 26" are
Clown loaches
3 species of Green tiger loaches
Blue loaches
Make sure they are all at 8"+ size range also loaches grow very slow at 1-1.5 inches per year once reach 6"+. They become expensive at those size range too.
