I was at Lowes today and saw that they had a 2500 gph pond pump with 20' Max Head for $129. It's a great big sucker. Anybody use one of these for a tank? I'm going to have a ball valve on my return so I could tune it back.

If they are still selling the Beckett pumps stay away from them. Most of those pond pumps are cheap for a reason and they use a lot of electricity so your really not saving money in the long run.
I was just looking at the utility pumps from lowes today. They have 1/4 hp and 4/10 hp pumps, between 1800 and 2500gph, for between $100-150. Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me, but they might use up a bit more juice than some other made for the hobby.
