Anyboy eat irridescent shark (swai)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's probably the basa fish, pangasius bocourti. They are a popular food fish and produce some good size filets. I'd eat it. Apparently it's better than native catfish.

According to Wikipedia, basa is considered better and is more valuable than swai, so you're actually more likely to get swai mislabeled as basa than the other way around.

MGK- It is a catfish. They get big, too- up to 100 lbs.

Found a basa recipe online- pretty basic, but calls for an orange juice-based dressing. I'll let you know how it turns out on the swai!

dont fillet them. i put them in all in an ice cube tray and make fish stock out of neons when i want fish stock. pop a cube in aquarium water changed water and bam, fish stock not worth much else. dont waste the water changed water either everyone. stop wasting money.

jumbo dead pacus are mighty fine tasting. mine froze to death as the heater broke so he made a good breakfast

I eat all my dead fish too. The neons were a little hard to fillet though.:D

I've had "Basa", which is a smaller type of Pangassius Catfish very similar to Iridescents. Tasted like butt. Very milky and muddy.
