Anyone able to sex this Red Devil?

With Red Devils at that age aggression will tell you nothing about the sex. This goldfish experiment is a rather stupid idea. The only thing pointing towards female in the pics are the rounded fins. You can vent it to determine the sex, if you'd like, but why not just wait and see how he/she turns out?

You sir are talking about an experienced hobbyist who has been keeping fish for over 20 years. Trust me i know what im talkin about. You are correct that fin shape are a sign of gender. But you fail to realize the reality that different genders of fish have different behaviors. I have used the goldfish method before and will continue to use it as long as it works.
 
Pretty sure they all end up "male" with the goldfish test. Goldfish test? Seriously? Yeah vent it when it gets bigger if it's important to you or just name it something gender neutral like "Pat" Seriously no need to torture an oranda.
 
Don't do the "gold fish test". I've been keeping fish 90 years and have never heard of that.

I've seen female midevils with pointy fins and nuchal humps.

Call it what you want until it lays eggs or exposes it's tube some.

What size tank do you have it in?
 
With the jack Dempseys right? I think you'll be ok for a little while. Ime though and the experience of others the red devil/Midas will take over the tank
