Well there's no way to find out how old mine are....some of their fry were sold to Sean, which were later sold to JD, and they just spawned. So Sean should know how old they are :D

David (Fishspeaker) in NC spawned fernandepyezi in 2008. Unfortunately the eggs/wigglers got eaten, and the male promptly killed the female. The male is living JD's display tank. David also spawned psittacus many times and Ken's selling the youngsters now.

JD's and mine are about 2yrs old now. i think it will be 2yrs march, alex may chime in ;)

My psittacus are from Peter's pair from before he had them. They are right at 2 years old and started spawning about 6 weeks ago. I use homade black water extract to lower my PH. After messing with for a while I know exactly how much to add at a water change to keep my PH levels constant. Mine started breeding right after I moved out several other fish from the 220g they are in. They are in with a group of altifrons, a few fancy plecos and a black aro. Mine bred at about a PH of 6.2.

First time the female ate the eggs, second time the male beat up the female then she ate the eggs, third time they made it to wigglers then the female starting eat them while I was watching and I was able to save a few of them.

The columbian psittacus is supposed to be much easier to keep and breed. The rio negro variety or what is known as the red breasted (What Peter, Sean and I have) is supposed to be much more sensitive and difficult to breed. I got mine from Sean at about 3" and grew them up in fairly hard tap water and they did fine. I kept the tank spotless though and always had the nitrates at below 5.

The panda uaru are one tough fish to figure out. They pit up extremely easily and breeding them successfully is rather difficult. Pretty much all of them on the market are coming from Germany. You had better have soft water and perfect conditions with these guys or you can forget it.

I don't have experience with the other fish you listed.

Which makes me curious about the purpose of this thread.

The idea of this thread is to see if the fish are being bred, so it's semi attached to the PF thread where I asked if these species were in Aus. So if they were in Aus, could the even be bred.

I know what you are thinking Ryan, and no, I am not.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't use my given name on these forums. It's also not a matter of whether you will or not, it's that you can't, although I do appreciate your entrepreneurial facades.

^ I agree about the fernandezyepezi, except that I think the F1s I got were bred in Belgium.

Might be that they are getting shipped into Germany from Belgium before being sent over here. Or maybe both places are breeding them. I know that several German suppliers have F1's listed for sale. I'm not sure were they are getting them from though.
