u r rite hermandrum..this species is not maruloides or marulia..until today i couldnt get d name as well. But d LFS told me it's from Indonesia..i wonder. I kept one previously but as it grows bigger it looks like a common haruan with flowers on it's body. and it's very aggresive compare with maruloides..check d photos below. alot of people mistaken it as maruloides due to the flowers on its body. obvious difference between the two species is the head.

well, i think it is channa marulius. the body is elongated,lot of black dots(flower) and orange ocellius. nowadays cannot rely on those LFS to know the fish origin.I've encounter lot of mistaken identity by the shop owner. Indonesia got channa maruliodes.

it still under channa marulia. c.marulia got some variant,different places got different pattern or color. for example,c.gachua got a lot of complex variant.but it still under c.gachua. I've a thailand magazines dedicated on channa species, got a lot of pictures.Later next month, i'll scan the marulia variant pictures and the names. the magazines not wit me now.
