Looks to me like a large, healthy, adult Ctenolucius hujeta.

Either way, the adipose fin screams characin so its off to Other Characins with this thread.

Never seen a characin with scales like that. Also interested in the ID of this fish.

It appears deceased, correct?

Those scales are normal, it's just the lighting. Even ATF have scales like that out of the water.
