^ the ones i do have are far from being in mint condition sadly... i also remember the gum that came with it was often pretty hard and tasted disgusting lol...

I've just been looking online for the last half hour or so at the tea brands who had cards in with the tea. Brooke Bond, PG Tips and Tetley were the main ones it seems, how widespread these went worldwide god only knows. Funnily enough there were a few examples of the types of collections they had and one which caught my eye were freshwater fish.

You can buy complete sets on line of these old cards apparently. Some sets are quite cheap too, maybe it was just selected limited edition sets that command the high prices I don't know. I feel an urge now to press forward and see if I can get a complete freshwater fish album and maybe frame it on the wall in my fish room, watch this space, lol.

^ will definitely be waiting to see if you go through with it...

I probably would have done something similar with some of my garbage pale kids cards except i still have a ton of artwork i need to get framed so i can hang it up around the house... seems being a collector of too many things means that wall space gets filled up rather quickly...

I've just bought a complete set of Brooke Bond freshwater fish picture cards from 1960.....and the full set was only £35, plus delivery. Some sets were as much as £200, though i'm sure the limited edition mint condition sets go for much more than that.

Looking at the dates on the dozens of sets that were released, it looks like they started in 1958 and stopped in 1990. So my freshwater fish set was very early on. I'm looking forward to them coming now.?

Definitely post up some pics when you get them coz it sounds like an interesting set especially if they are from the 60’s...

Im guessing the graphics are illustrations rather than photos of the fish based on when they were produced?

Yeah they look like artist illustrations. If I remember rightly they have a write up on the back of the cards giving details of the subject. If they come stuck to chart, or neatly laid out in a frame with glass over for wall mounting, I'm not sure how i'll be able to read the back of the cards. I'll have to wait and see, but yes i'll definitely post them up in this thread when I get them.

Hmmmmm... i know you can do a floating glass type framing but im not sure it would work with those cards so that you could see both the front and back...

The only way i could think of doing it is if you laid them out between two pieces of acrylic and sandwiched them together... the probably then would be trying to frame it, as you would either need to just find someway to bolt the two acrylic pieces together or see if a frame could be build around it if that makes sense...
