anyone else "geek out" at pet stores

yea i actually like doin it sometimes..........at my one lfs i helped a lady tell the difference between a couple cichlids.......it was pretty cool educating others on fish........
 
i got a job at my lfs doing that..........only i was helping the boss with names
 
yep, quite frequently too! lots and lots of overheard garbage!
 
I've actually had the employees ask for help a few times. I love butting in to help other people.

I also like to tell someone when they are about to spend way too much on a fish.
 
The LFS I frequent are generally filled with competant people. Of course they still may not know all their stuff. I get asked often to help with fish while there, and sometimes I get called in by LFS to help with plec identification.

Roughly about half the time I can fight it :D At my favorite I get asked here and there as well.. Especially when an employee is trying to explain why the customers Pacu id too much for ther 20 g...
 
its too bad that the only place i go is a petsmart because they have so many employees and customers that they dont reconize me when i come in (even though its like twice a week) i guess they would remember me at the lfs near me but i dislike going there because the service is terrible.

"ohh you're thinking about getting that filter? what type of tank do you have?"

I saw some lady carrying a fish bowl and some crappy food today, I almost said something.
