anyone else "geek out" at pet stores

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For sw fish and inverts-- the PocketExpert Marine Fishes & Marine Invertabrates are my bible. Sometimes the max lengths on the fish are a little high, but otherwise these books are great for quick info.

I do it everytime..... clerks are horrible, there like "oh ya that oscar will be fine in your 10 gallon, they grow to the size of the tank":irked: like that should be posted on the door of every fish store. FISH DO NOT GROW TO THE SIZE OF THEIR TANK, ok maybe they will be stunted but its not they only grow to the size of their tank... it's more like they die before they can grow. People goo oohhhh nooo our oscar died after 6 months... oh well I'll just buy another for $6. I see people looking at fish and my first question is how big is your tank. I always tell them move along honey not for you lol another fav is on petsmart price cards aparently bala sharks only grow to 5" lol well isn't that amazing lol

does anyone else get the strong desire to ask the other customers at your local store if they need help or have any questions or just happen to overhear the clerk giving some incorrect info and chime in.

i can fight the urge most of the time, can you?

Dude, I do it a lot....In fact, I like to wear my MonsterKeepers rubberband around my wrist everytime I go through my lfs track...I purposely hold my hand out and point to whatever they are questioning and answer, showing off my MFK band....hehehe:naughty:

I also give the money slowly to whoever is at the cashier with the wrist that has the MFK rubberband.....I leave me wrist out waiting for the cash, while aimlessly looking around the room....

My husband teases me because when we're at Petsmart and someone asks me where "whatever" is I'm like, yes, check aisle 3, on your right hand side.
If I overheard someone getting themselves into some fish trouble I'd probably interrupt them to save them some trouble down the road.

Haha i do that all the time, since i go in there a lot, the guy there lets me net my own fish and i have had to serve others before when it was busy :D.
