just make sure that if you do go used, thoroughly inspect the seals and if in doubt, reseal it.
I bought my Aqueon 150g new from the LFS because I wanted as low of a risk of leaking as possible (that I wanted black silicone lol).
with used tanks, you never really know what you are dealing with. the tank may have been drained, moved, filled again, drained, left to dry out in the sun etc etc.
you just don't know, because most times the seller will tell you exactly what you want to hear. after all, they want you to buy it
another tip is to make sure that the tank you are buying is a well made and reputable brand. not a homemade one from the guy down the street...
with big tanks, quality is important. thats a lot of water they are carrying and a lot of weight.
