Anyone else have trouble finding tanks/fish

just make sure that if you do go used, thoroughly inspect the seals and if in doubt, reseal it.

I bought my Aqueon 150g new from the LFS because I wanted as low of a risk of leaking as possible (that I wanted black silicone lol).

with used tanks, you never really know what you are dealing with. the tank may have been drained, moved, filled again, drained, left to dry out in the sun etc etc.

you just don't know, because most times the seller will tell you exactly what you want to hear. after all, they want you to buy it :)

another tip is to make sure that the tank you are buying is a well made and reputable brand. not a homemade one from the guy down the street...

with big tanks, quality is important. thats a lot of water they are carrying and a lot of weight.

good luck in your search!

I'm not having as much a hard time finding bigger tanks, as much as I'm having a problem with people's prices. Example: There's an ad in my local area Craigslist for a 72 gallon bowfront, with stand for $1000. Tank and stand for $1000!! No lights, filters, any equipment, just tank and stand. Not even built in overflows! All I can think of is maybe 4 stippers deliver it and set it up for me at that price! :D Otherwise, WAY overpriced!

I bought my 120g new because I wanted the peace of mind of a no leak/warranty tank and the black silicone. I also was stuck with needing a 5' tank not a 6'. That really limits you when it comes to used! There were NO 5' tanks on craigslist they were all 125g 6ft.

I got my 125 from craigslist, with everything, for 300. Its perfect, i mean i bought an fx5, and new lights, and pwerheads and stuff. The tank was almost brand new. Buying a tank is like buying a car haha. A brand new one is a horrible investment because even if i do buy one brand new and want to sell later, its worth hundreds less. I may look into building one. Money isnt to much of a problem, but i dont have sufficeint resources to build, like tools and stuff. I just keep looking though. haha

I find them when im not tryin n cant when i am....
