Im big on feeding whole fish as a staple to my cariba. I currently use tilapia, but want to switch over to walleye/perch when i find the time to start fishing again. I also like tossing the fish heads into the tank to let them chew on. My cariba went ape**** today and i've never seen them chew a head like this one.

Anyone else do whole fish feedings? What kinda fish do you use? Share pics and videos if you have them.

I also feed whole fish, usually perch or any fresh small whole fish I can find grocery store.

heh, I feed NLS to mine as well. They currently get frozen krill, bloodworms, market shrimp and NLS...it's really good stuff as it'll help fill in some of the nutritional gap and enhance their color (I hope).

I swear you gotta be an NLS salesman F1.

NAH, I started with hikari, switched to 01 and recently again to NLS. The quality is better, and I can honestly say the colors of my fish are 10% or so better! RD got me into the stuff and its great!

I dont feed the whole fish. I cut the whole fish into slices.

Im normally all for pellets F1, but im getting solid growth and amazing shape so far from a red that ive only fed uncooked carrots, ghost shrimp, convict fry and tilapia fins. And i barely feed him. Hes already getting color at like 1.5"-2". I really do think we generally give the piranhas too much nutrition.

Compare his shape to other tank raised reds

And you can check out my youtube channel to see plenty of videos of him chewing on fins and carrots and being active as hell. Givemev8

Heres a batch of reds i raised a while ago. See the difference? Bout the same age too

I raised them on a staple of pellets, shrimp, and fillets. Head size, shape, and color are all better in the '****ty' diet red belly.
