Anyone ever doublestack tanks 180 or larger?

here is another thought for you. Your bottom tank can sit on the floor! Have the water drain out to the side into a small tank that is the same height as the bottom tank. In this small tank, place a sump pump with a float switch creating a surge tank. When this surge tank reaches a preset fill point, the pump will turn on and pump the water to your filter system at any height or location.

I have 2 180s stacked.

Good idea chompers i like that, but i wanted to put the 180 glass on the bottom and it has 3 drains on the bottom of the tank. No drains on the sides or back at all. So if i was to have it sit about the ground say 3-6" and then run tubing or piping from the bottom of that tank up to a surge tank about the same height as the tank or prob less. But im guess if its not that high off the ground, gravity won't force the water from the the dain plug under the tank and up to the height of the surge tank. If gravity wont force it i would have to pump it to a wet dry or surge tank. I might be better off having to seprate wet/dry for each tank and just have the wet/dry for the bottom tank about it so it drains back into it.

REC: My double stack 80's are setup the exact same way and i believe with the same size metal as well. I want to set it up similar to that but the only difference is that im trying not to have that single support for the upper tank block the bottom one.Only in the back so i would need the frame for the top tank to be stronger. Will prob use thicker metal or thick metal poles, maybe even one extra on the front side where there isn't that support beam in the middle. And my tank is 8' long so i want to make sure that with all that extra length it won't bow in the middle (the guy i bought it from mentioned). Too bad you live to far rec, i have an extra jaguar.
