Anyone ever feel like just giving up?

Well after reading the previous comments I guess were going with a little tough love.:irked:
SAVE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 20-50 US DOLLARS TO BUY AN ADEQUATE PYTHON/EXTENDER HOSE.
jk...
for real though...:naughty:

Where can i get a python? Hardware store, or will most lfs's carry them?

I enjoy them (the fish), its just racking my nerves trying to find a tankmate and figure a easier way to do wc's weekly, cause there have been times where at the end of the week ive been so tired from a full college scheduel and 4-5 martial arts classes a week that i almost postponed it untill the next weekend, never done that before, but came close. I would never give up my fish if didnt have to.

A while back i fell into some bad finacial trouble and had to give it up for about a year, but now im back into it. And, unfortunately, its happening again, so i havent been able to look for/invest in a type of hose that will both attach to a basement bathroom faucet, and reach into my room. My water pressure if strong enough, i just need to get the money to buy the hose first. Ive tried normal garden hoses, but for one i have no idea how to clean the entire inside of them, and it is too big to attach to the faucet, it just falls off.

Should i maybe measure the faucet and call around hardware stores and pet shops?

(And, for the record, im not going to give it up now im just asking the question out of curiosity. I would never give it up unless i absolutely had to, such as my tank cracking and breaking, running completely out of money, etc, etc... If it ever does come down to that, i will def list my tank and fish here, before i give them to my lfs..)

I think the problem is the way things are set up for you it is more like work with no fun. If you change the way you do things you will enjoy. There have been numerous post on how to not make it so laborous. Why don't you purchase a pump to pump the water out or get a 5 gallon bucket as oppose to a half gallon bucket.

I had a similar WC problem until I was in the basement and the solution literally hit me- I use the empty jugs from my old water cooler! And who ever said Polish people aren't smart? ;)
Frustration is bound to happen, especially if you're just starting. I still get pissed if my tank mysteriously clouds up or when a plant or fish dies. You just gotta deal with it, learn from it, and move on. Breaking down a tank and giving up won't solve all that much- you either will take a major hit in the $ department, have an empty lonely tank staring you down, let alone, what would grandma say?
If you can't find a tankmate for your fish, so what? Maybe he prefers to be a loner. If that's the case, then stop worrying about fish when you can do awesome set ups with plants, rocks, wood, lights, etc.

You can get an adapter at a hardware store (lowes, Home depot, aces, etc...) that will allow you to hook your garden hose to your faucet in the bathroom or kitchen and it cost around $2-$5 depending on store. If you don't know which one to get, just ask a rep there and they will help you i'm sure. I use it with my python, but have used it with a garden hose in the past due to the python getting a leak. This will make your water changes much easier and probably lift a little burden off you in the water change issue.

I was away from fish for about 6 months for the first time in 30 years and thought I had lost my best friend and now setting up a 180 that I walked to on craigslist. Some due get frustrated or bored with it, but usually they end up selling or giving away everything and probably within a year they want to kick themselves for doing it. IF anything, take it down and put it in a storage for a little while and you will probably want to get it back out really fast before you know it. If it sits up there for awhile and you don't have the desire to set it back up, then maybe it's time to move on from this hobby.

My fish tanks give me that sense of desire to want to work on something everyday. Some of us just like tinkering with them everyday and least somehow :) Even if it's just to move a rock around or plant, water change, to cleaning out filters....just gives me a sense of relaxation, guess it's hard to explain sometimes lol.

Good luck with your tank and i'm sure you will figure out what you are looking for and want with the hobby.

THe advise given has been great already as to how to fix your problem on a equipment level... imho if funds are short as you say.. Invest in a few 5 gallon buckets. doing our 75 is a breeze now w/ the buckets. unfortunately we haven't been able to rig up our python to any of the faucets in our appartment. we Use 4 buckets all said an done to do water changes. One of us fills while the other dumps. Balanceing 2 full 5 gallon buckets is alot easier then 1 off balanced bucket. and 2x the water moved.

As for stocking. Don't be disheartened. When I got my Ornate I was worried about her aggression as she got older since they are notoriousely aggressive. She's a lazy fat cow.... Just keep trying. and as pointed out.. My Senegals at first picked at her abit then soon settled in. displays of dominance are normal, every now an then a split fin or fray is normal.

imho I would avoid the Bala's as they'll outgrow your tank and need to be in schools to really be happy. I'de try a deeper bodied fish like silver dollars or even a pair of Angel fish. Or if your Del is really that aggresssive Try a small species of Pike cichlid ( These fish can be very aggressive). Gar also have a long-standing generally good mix range with Bichir, but even a florida would eventually need a larger tank.

Yes you more than likely can find a python at your local LFS.
