Anyone ever fixed a really large tank (300 gal)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
... If you could put a light vacuum on the bottom side when you use the epoxy it will pull the epoxy thru for a better bond.

Nice thinking...Maybe build a quick and cheap frame with plywood and 2x4's, then use a shop vac to pull the suction. The 5 or 15 minute epoxy is too gooy to pull into the typical crack but the stuff to repair windshield cracks is made for the job. I don't know about its strength though.

Got the glass in on friday, but had no time for pictures.

I still need to clean up the extra silicone w/ a razor.
I will fill it up later this week.

Which silicone option? 1 or 2? Obviously the blue represents a silicone bead.

I am thinking of going with 2. Is there any reason I should not do it this way?

Thanks again for all your help

I have a 230 g that I went with option 1. The tank has not leaked since, about 1 year now.

Well, the tank has been 3/4 filled for 2 weeks now. No leaks! :headbang2

I am going to build a new stand for it that has better support in the middle before I fill it all the way up.

I'll get pictures of the stand progress an post them up here.

Its gonna be made with 2x6's and plywood.

Finally got some quick pics taken. Sorry for the poor quality.

Filling up.
