  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you all not wash your hands after a water change? How many times has this ever happened? 1 time to 1 girl? The likely hood of you actually getting is like 1 in 174926384054883820264929:)

I've gotten pink eye when my aunt's turtle splashed water in my face.they were past due for a water change, it was nasty. eye's, nose, and mouth. I was glad pink eye was all I got.
my fish, lizards, amphibians, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, and dogs have never gotten me sick.
injured on the other hand...

There are many species from the genus Mycobacterium, M marinum is more likely to be the aquarium culprit as opposed to M. tuberculinum (an airbourne agent), and a little Polysporine on those cuts after a water change should be enough to prevent M marinum.
Pseudomonas may also get to the gut if you end up swallowing when getting a siphon started.

Friend of mine has a gator, was feeding it raw squid, the gator got his thumb slightly. So he cleaned it and put on neosporin and a bandaid. Couple weeks go by and he started having pain in his thumb. Turns out when he put the neo on and bandaid it locked in the bad bacteria and it started to eat away his flesh and bone. He had to have multiple surgeries and they did something with one of his toes to see if his body would grow back what he lost, well he got lucky and didnt lose his thumb.

Never really got sick but I once did catch a bad case of eczema on my arms from water changes and skin rubbing against the tank's black top plastic trim when reaching deep in the tank. It happened bad on my inner arm joints but later on it went away and I don't get it no more. I guess my skin got immune to it. Lol.

Thanks! now Im gonna have to go out there and buy one of those long plastic glove to do my daily water change..

i put my hands in my tanks all the time cuts or not.. and normally i dont wash my hands afterwords, never ever had a problem.. 11 plus years raising fish.. never had a problem.

^ Lol, pacumom.

the infected girl that got the cut while working on her tank. getting sliced with a direct influx of bacteria seems higher risk.
